The Mid-America Public Health Training Center at the University of Illinois at Chicago, School of Public Health invites you to our 8th Annual Rural Public Health Institute at the Thelma Keller Convention Center in Effingham, IL – Tuesday, March 13, 2012 – Thursday, March 15, 2012.
For the past 7 years, The Mid-America Public Health Training Center (MAPHTC) has been organizing the Rural Public Health Institute in Effingham, IL. MAPHTC provides learning opportunities for the public health workforce through distance education and face-to-face conferences and is supported by the Health Resource Services Administration (HRSA), and is a member of the National Public Health Training Center Network.
The Rural Public Health Institute provides half and full day training workshops on current, timely topics in the area of Rural Public Health. The Institute is designed to provide an opportunity for professional growth, educational enrichment and networking to those professionals who work in the fields of rural public health, health care, chronic diseases, food safety, epidemiology, surveillance, emergency preparedness, agriculture, and education.
Skills Building: Focuses on skills needed for a competent public health workforce
Preparedness: Focuses on preparing the public health community and workforce for disaster preparedness
Emerging Issues: Focuses on new trends in programs and policies for Rural Public Health
Hospital: Focuses on issues related to hospitals and the EMS community and their personnel
